The company
Our trusted client is a leading engineering design and project management company (PMC) based in Kuala Lumpur.
The role
A suitable Senior Design Manager with strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills are required. The individual must be able to manage complex engineering systems and manage a team of design consultants.
The Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive engineering plans that define scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with cross-functional teams to achieve seamless execution.
- Assigning projects and tasks to individual Design Managers, monitoring their progress and ensuring alignment with project budgets and schedules.
- Collaborate when needed to discuss new process efficiencies and/or new products and/or Data Center configurations.
- Review appropriateness of design based on locality specifics, convention, local experience, climate, workforce and existing standards.
- Ensuring compliance with the company standards on all projects and assure that these standards are up-to-date with industry best practices and meet the company’s business objectives.
- Assist in the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts related to anticipated design and construction expenditures.
- Communicate status of projects to both internal and external stakeholders on an ad-hoc and formal basis. Ensure all stakeholders are up-to-date with regards to design schedule and potential issues. Prepare monthly project reports regarding the budget, schedule, and scope objectives of assigned projects
The skills and experience required
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering a must
- 10 to 20 years of experience in designing critical facilities and complex infrastructure
- Prior experience with hand-on designs of data centers is mandatory
- Strong understanding of MEP systems
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices
- Strong technical knowledge with hands-on knowledge/experience in critical systems operations including HVAC, Standby emergency power, uninterruptible power supplies, Heating and Cooling and fire control system.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
