  • Space Manager

The University of Greenwich is seeking to appoint a Space Manager within its Estates & Facilities Directorate.

The University of Greenwich is one of the largest universities in the UK, delivering programmes across the world while proudly balancing extraordinary heritage with a bold vision for the future. Our stunning campuses — including our iconic Greenwich site on a UNESCO World Heritage Site — comprise a rich and diverse estate of historic buildings, modern academic facilities and specialist environments that support an ambitious 2030 Strategy.

The Space Manager will play a central role in shaping, analysing and optimising the University’s physical environment. Reporting to the Associate Director of Property & Space, the postholder will lead the strategic management of space across the estate, ensuring that the University’s physical resources are fully aligned with institutional priorities and used as effectively and efficiently as possible. This includes leading the development and implementation of the Space Management Strategy, managing space management systems (including MICAD), and ensuring the University operates with accurate, timely and high‑quality space data.

The postholder will analyse space utilisation, undertake audits and surveys, produce detailed reports and forecasts, and present data‑driven insights to senior committees to support evidence‑based decision‑making. They will play a key role in change management initiatives — influencing, engaging and supporting staff at all levels — and will lead feasibility studies, reconfiguration proposals and new ways of working that maximise space potential across both modern and heritage environments.

We are seeking an individual with significant experience in space planning and space utilisation, ideally supported by strong knowledge of CAD/MICAD systems, BIM and CAFM platforms. You will bring excellent analytical, stakeholder engagement and change‑management skills, along with the confidence to advise senior leaders and champion new approaches.

This is an excellent opportunity to take a leadership role within a distinctive, high‑profile estate — directly influencing how the University uses its spaces, shaping future planning, and contributing to the quality of the student and staff experience.

This appointment comes at a transformative moment for the University. The University of Greenwich and the University of Kent have formally committed to a merger that will create a new multi‑university group — anticipated to become the UK’s first “super‑university” — legally coming into effect from 1 August 2026, while both institutions continue to operate under their existing names and identities.

For a briefing discussion, please contact our retained advisor Nick Coppard at MRG: nick.coppard@mrgglobal.com.   Applications should consist of a CV and covering letter and should be sent to: nick.coppard@mrgglobal.com

This role is offered with flexible working options, and we welcome part‑time working pattern proposals.
