  • Design and Technical Director

MRG Global is partnering exclusively with a leading international hospitality developer and operator, renowned for delivering premium resort destinations across Europe. With a strong pipeline of large-scale projects, the organisation is distinguished by its commitment to design excellence, exceptional guest experiences, and sustainable construction practices.

    The Role

Reporting to the Design Senior Director, the Design & Technical Director will lead the development, coordination, and delivery of schematic and detailed design packages across a portfolio of premium hospitality projects.

This role sits at the point where design vision becomes technically coordinated, commercially aligned, and buildable project documentation. Working within an integrated developer and operator environment, you will ensure that approved concepts are translated into robust design packages through schematic design, detailed design, tender, and construction phases.

You will work closely with architecture, interior design, engineering, project management, procurement, and construction teams, acting as the key interface between design intent and project delivery. The position requires a senior design and technical leader who can protect the creative direction of each project while ensuring that programme, budget, buildability, compliance, and operational requirements are properly addressed.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the development of schematic design, design development, and detailed design packages following concept approval.
    • Translate approved concept designs into coordinated, technically robust, and buildable project documentation.
    • Ensure design intent is maintained through tender, construction documentation, and site delivery.
    • Coordinate architecture, interior design, MEP, civil engineering, consultants, and project delivery teams.
    • Act as the primary interface between design teams and project management functions responsible for programme, budget, procurement, and delivery.
    • Review and approve consultant deliverables from schematic design onwards.
    • Identify and mitigate technical risks relating to buildability, compliance, quality, cost, and operational performance.
    • Support tender processes by ensuring design documentation is complete, coordinated, and suitable for procurement.
    • Provide technical and design support during construction, including review of shop drawings, technical submittals, and material samples.
    • Lead and manage multidisciplinary technical teams, including architects, interior designers, MEP engineers, and civil engineers.
    • Support value engineering, balancing cost efficiency with design quality and guest experience.
    • Work closely with operations, sales, marketing, procurement, and project delivery teams to ensure design solutions reflect wider business requirements.
    • Contribute to executive-level reporting and provide clear updates on technical progress, risks, and design delivery.

    Candidate Profile

    • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum 12 to 15 years’ experience in design development, technical delivery, and project coordination across complex hospitality, resort, mixed-use, or large-scale property projects.
    • Proven experience leading projects from concept handover through schematic design, detailed design, tender, construction documentation, and site support.
    • Strong technical understanding across architecture, interior design, MEP, civil engineering, consultant coordination, and construction interfaces.
    • Experience working within a developer, operator, hospitality group, or integrated project environment is highly desirable.
    • Strong background in hospitality developments preferred.
    • Experience managing multidisciplinary internal teams and external consultants.
    • Strong understanding of buildability, cost alignment, value engineering, compliance, and technical risk management.
    • Ability to work across multiple countries, project teams, stakeholders, and business functions.
    • Strong experience in executive-level reporting.
    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Fluent English required.
    • Fluent Greek speaker is preferred and Spanish fluency is an asset.

    Location & Working Pattern

Based between Greece and Spain, with regular travel to project locations across Greece, Iberia and wider Europe.
