A leading multinational Project Management Consultancy with an established presence across Asia-Pacific and a strong track record delivering high-value, technically complex built environment projects is expanding its operations in Malaysia. The firm works with some of the world’s most prominent technology and hyperscale clients, and is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of a major data centre project in Johor.

Responsibilities

Manage the full project lifecycle of a large-scale data centre development from pre-construction through to handover, acting as the primary PMC representative on site
Develop and maintain the master project programme, monitoring progress across both CSA and M&E workstreams and driving alignment between all disciplines
Serve as the key day-to-day client interface, providing confident and structured project reporting including progress updates, risk registers, and executive-level dashboards
Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary consultant and contractor teams across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and specialist systems packages
Chair and minute progress meetings, design reviews, and coordination workshops, ensuring actions are tracked and resolved within agreed timeframes
Monitor and manage project risks, issues, and change events, escalating critical items to senior PMC leadership and the client as appropriate
Review and assess contractor programmes, technical submissions, RFIs, and variations in coordination with the cost and technical advisory teams
Oversee the procurement and performance management of contractors and specialist subcontractors through tender, award, and delivery phases
Ensure all works are executed in compliance with Malaysian statutory and regulatory requirements including CIDB, TNB, and Bomba as relevant to data centre construction
Maintain comprehensive project documentation and governance records throughout the full project lifecycle in line with PMC and client standards

Requirements

Fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is mandatory — this is a non-negotiable requirement given the client and stakeholder environment
Minimum 8 years of project management experience within a PMC or client-side environment, with a proven track record delivering large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
Hands-on working knowledge of both CSA and M&E scopes is essential — candidates with experience across only one discipline will not be considered
Prior experience on data centre, mission-critical, or technically complex industrial projects is strongly preferred
Strong understanding of project controls including programme management, risk management, cost monitoring, and change control
Familiarity with Malaysia’s regulatory and statutory framework as it applies to large-scale construction and mission-critical facilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage senior client representatives and cross-functional project teams
Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-accountability project environment
Degree qualified in Project Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related built environment discipline
Full right to work in Malaysia (Malaysian Citizen, PR, or valid working authorisation)
