University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking a Facilities Manager to support high- quality service delivery and operations at London College of Communication.

As part of the Estates Department, the Facilities Manager will lead a team of Facilities Assistants and manage contracted service partners to maintain a secure and well-maintained campus environment. Key responsibilities include implementing and managing Facilities Management (FM) service strategies, overseeing daily operations such as cleaning, maintenance, Health & Safety, and minor works projects and refurbishments. Additionally, they will collaborate with the Campus Manager to monitor and report on service partner performance against established service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators and (KPIs), ensuring alignment with organisational goals and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, along with a demonstrable track record of overseeing a range of Facilities Management operational functions and services within a similar environment. You will possess a proactive approach to problem-solving and customer service, as well as an understanding of Health & Safety regulations and compliance. Additionally you shall hold proficiency in stakeholder management and should also be able to demonstrate the ability to foster positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone with – 

  • Proven experience in facilities management and strong team management experience.
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement across multiple fields.
  • Experienced in representing Estates FM service operations at College meetings or similar (Building User Groups, College Health and Safety Committee and Project boards).
  • Practical experience with using Helpdesk and CAFM software.
  • An IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in undertaking incident management and control duties and escalations.

Please note this is a 100% on-site role and is not suitable for hybrid or remote working. The successful applicant will be required to pass an Enhanced DBS check, as the role involves working in a young adult environment.
